project:RS2  /  DAM rebuilt from scratch
project:RS2

ResourceSpace changed how we manage media. We've been users since the beginning. We still are. project:RS2 is built on that foundation — with deep respect for what came before.

This is our default UI. Don't like it? Build your own — the entire API is open.

Interface preview — light theme shown. Dark theme ships too. Or build your own via the API.

Everything in project:RS2 is exposed through a clean REST API. Every upload, search, transform, tag, and permission check — all API. Our interface is just one client sitting on top of it.

If you don't like our UI — or your brand has specific requirements, or you want it embedded inside your own platform — it doesn't matter. Hand the API to any web designer or front-end developer and they can build you exactly the interface you want. From scratch. Your colors, your layout, your language.

The back end handles the hard parts: asset storage, AI tagging, format transformation, search indexing, permissions. The front end is just HTML, CSS, and a handful of API calls.

  • Assets — upload, retrieve, update, delete, download original or transformed
  • Search — full-text, faceted, typo-tolerant, filtered by any metadata field
  • Transforms — request any preset, poll status, retrieve output
  • AI metadata — trigger re-tagging, retrieve tags, descriptions, colors, mood
  • Collections — create, manage membership, share
  • Users & permissions — group management, access control, invite flow
  • Webhooks — fire on upload complete, transform done, tag ready

ResourceSpace changed how we think about media management. The team behind it built something that has served organizations around the world for over two decades — and we've been alongside it the whole time.

We are not the creators of ResourceSpace. We are longtime users who know it deeply — the metadata field system, the collections, the resource types, the permissions model. We've run it, extended it, and recommended it for years.

project:RS2 is our answer to a question we kept asking ourselves: what would we build if we started from scratch today?

Moving from ResourceSpace to project:RS2 is straightforward. Two scripts, a Docker container, and you're running.

  • Export your RS data — one mysqldump command
  • Run the migration script — maps your metadata, fields, users, collections
  • Review the report — see exactly what's coming over before anything moves
  • Start RS2 — docker compose up and you're live

Everything you built in ResourceSpace
comes with you. In a simple 2-script migration. All of it.

  • Instant search — typo-tolerant, faceted, sub-50ms via Typesense
  • AI tags on upload — every asset described, colored, and mood-tagged automatically
  • Format transformation — powered by ImageMagick and ffmpeg. 200+ image formats, 190+ video output formats, Ghostscript for PDF. Define named presets or pass raw parameters through the API.
  • Cloud-native storage — R2, S3, MinIO, or local. Swap without touching your data.
  • Granular permissions — download, transform, export, share — per group per asset type
  • Webhooks — fire on upload, tag complete, transform done. Connect anything.
  • Your metadata fields — every custom field, every label, exactly as you named them
  • Your assets — every file, moved to cloud storage
  • Your collections — structure and membership intact
  • Your users — accounts and groups carried over
  • Your workflow — project:RS2 feels familiar on day one

Your team lives in Slack. The DAM should too. project:RS2 brings the full asset workflow into Slack — search, share, approve, transform, and get notified without ever opening a browser tab.

Not a watered-down notification bot. A real workflow tool — slash commands, interactive buttons, approval flows, channel routing. DAM work happens where the conversation is.

  • Approval flows — post an asset for review, approve or reject with one click
  • Channel notifications — new uploads, transforms, AI tagging routed to the right channel
  • Transform from Slack — CMYK to sRGB, TIFF to JPEG, strip metadata — without leaving the conversation
  • Share to channel — push any asset to any channel with a preview card and download link
  • Slack Workflow Builder — trigger DAM actions from any Slack workflow step
